Traboulet

Traboulet (also known as Kuba and Akiba) is a pushing game, with a clever mechanical construction which enforces the movement rules. It looks superficially like Abalone, except on a square grid, but it is a completely independantly invented game. The rules are here.

Robots: The robots are very basic, but seem to scale pretty well. Dumbot is not quite a pushover, bestbot appears to be pretty strong.

The back story: Traboulet came to my attention as an game with a similar mechanic to Abalone. It has it's own sad back story of court cases establishing that it is NOT a derivative of abalone.
